Position Overview
We are seeking a dependable Firewatch to support job site safety operations in the Calvert, Alabama area. This role is responsible for monitoring hot work activities and ensuring that proper fire prevention measures are in place. The ideal candidate is attentive, safety-focused, and capable of responding quickly in emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor areas where hot work (welding, cutting, grinding) is being performed
- Identify and eliminate potential fire hazards before, during, and after operations
- Maintain a constant watch for sparks, embers, or signs of fire
- Ensure fire extinguishers and safety equipment are readily available and in working condition
- Respond immediately to fire incidents using appropriate equipment
- Maintain a fire watch log and document any incidents or hazards
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members regarding safety concerns
- Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety regulations
Qualifications
- Prior construction or industrial site experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Ability to remain alert for extended periods
- Basic knowledge of fire prevention and safety practices
- OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to work in outdoor conditions and varying environments
- Valid Drivers License
Work Environment
- Outdoor construction/industrial setting with exposure to heat, noise, and weather conditions
- Requires standing and monitoring for extended periods
- Safety-critical role requiring constant vigilance
Compensation & Benefits
- $20/hour pay rate
